Emily Adams, NP

I’ve always known that I wanted my career to focus on helping kids. After graduating from University of Rochester, I taught   high  school math in New Orleans with Teach for America. In working with teens, I discovered how important it is to me to   listen  and raise up their voices.

Since teaching, I graduated from MGH Institute of Health Professionals and I have been practicing as a pediatric nurse   practitioner. So far, I have focused on pediatric primary care, gynecology and gender affirming care. I take a family-centered,   inclusive approach and enjoy working with kids and their families. At Pediatric Healthcare at Newton Wellesley, I am excited to   be working with all ages and to bring my experience in LGBTQ+ health to our clinic.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, I currently live in Boston with my big fluffy cat, my fiancé and our many plants. I enjoy skiing   and climbing, but my favorite activity is cozying up with a book.

I am excited to be taking care of your family at Lower Falls Pediatrics!

MB Headshot

Monica Betjemann, NP

I spent my entire life in Nashua, NH until it was time to go to college.  I was charmed by Penn State’s campus and the wide variety of programs that they offered.  I decided to major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.  In spite of being the rare major which required completion of two whole semesters of physical chemistry, I persisted and earned my BS. After graduation, I moved back up to the Boston area to work as a research assistant in academia and then at a biotech startup company.  I enjoyed my coworkers, a lot of aspects of the work, and the goal of finding new cancer therapeutics, but I couldn’t ignore the pull I felt to help people more directly.  I earned my BSN and MSN at Northeastern and passed my boards to become a certified Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC).

I have worked in the pediatric primary care setting for the past 10 years.  It is an enormous responsibility and privilege to be involved in the care of children and their families.  I take this responsibility seriously but am also incredibly grateful that the field of pediatrics allows so much room for laughter, silliness, and group sing-a-longs in exam rooms!

I live with my husband, two sons, and dog in Watertown, MA.  I love watching my kids at play and going for family walks around the Charles River. When given the opportunity, I love to backyard birdwatch, read, work on puzzles, and savor a warm cup of Earl Grey tea.  Thank you so much for welcoming me to Lower Falls Pediatrics!
